Mancini closes in on Sinclair with wantaway winger set to complete £6.2m move
Scott Sinclair looks set to complete his move to Manchester City on Tuesday for a transfer fee believed to be £6.2million.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool that he hoped the deal would go through before Friday's deadline, but according to Sky Sports it will be done a lot sooner than that.
Mancini said: 'We have five days and we should work really hard, but no-one spoke to me during the game about Scott Sinclair.'
Michael Laudrup left Sinclair out of his Swansea squad that beat West Ham 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday in a sure sign that Sinclair's future lies elsewhere.
Mancini is looking to add a host of new signings to his squad before the transfer window closes on Friday.
The Italian offloaded Adam Johnson to Sunderland this week, raising £10million to spend and creating a space in the squad for another winger.
And Laudrup has suggested that Sinclair's exit is likely this week.
However the Dane added that the former Chelsea youth player would be welcome in his squad should the move collapse.
Laudrup said: 'Last week after the game at QPR I said there was no problem bringing him into the squad. He did a good job there and came off the bench and scored.
'However, there was a lot going on around Scott this week. We spoke with each other and decided it was best he didn’t participate at all in our game.
'You know things can move fast but we will wait until Monday to see where things stand.
'We know this could go on to next Friday evening. If he is still here after that, he will be in the squad next Saturday.'
